About CHYPPS

The Children and Young People’s Partnership Somerset , is a partnership of voluntary and community organisations working with children and young people, from early years to young adult.  The membership represents a broad range of services, which includes large national charities, uniform & faith groups, play & youth associations, and numerous other groups and individuals working across the spectrum of children and young people's services.

Our aim is to create a confident, sustainable and well-informed network of VCS children and young people’s services that reflects and supports the uniqueness and diversity of the sector across Somerset. This will ensure that the needs of children and young people, from early years to young adulthood, can be met through an equitable and inclusive partnership.

CHYPPS will provide a regular forum for exchanging ideas, good practice and issues of concern to the sector, and will offer a platform for cooperation, joint action and influence.

We work in partnership with the statutory sector, through Somerset County Council's Children's, Community and Transport Directorates, and the wider Voluntary, Community and Independent Sector (VCIS).  Collectively our aim is to achieve the 5 'Every Child Matters' outcomes for children.  These are;

• Be Healthy.
• Stay Safe.
• Enjoy and Achieve.
• Make a Positive Contribution
• Achieve Economic Well-being.

This will be achieved through supporting the VCIS with;

• Effective Communication and resources through the development and maintenance of an interactive website, newsletter, open forums and meetings.
• Funding information that is up-to-date and relevant, advice and support on the funding process and applications, including commissioning.
• Promoting equality and diversity to ensure effective to ensure effective ad equitable services and representation for the VCIS working with children and young people.
• Developing capacity and a sustainable network through training opportunities, advice, support and effective governance.
• Joint working and partnerships through project development and delivery, encouraging shared approaches and partnerships between the VCIS and other key agencies.
