Extended Schools Service

The Somerset Children and Young People’s Directorate commissioned CHYPPS from 2007 until 2009 in bringing knowledge and information from Voluntary and Community services to Schools, enhancing opportunities for Extended Services.  This work enabled CHYPPS to collate up to date details about what is on offer from these services for children and young people.

Working together

Working in partnership is the key theme of the Extended Services and we all have a role to play in our  communities. We recognise that we don’t have to deliver services on our own. We can work with parents, schools, the public, independent, voluntary and community sectors, children and young people.

The main delivery objectives of the Extended Schools Services are:

  • Child care
  • Family support
  • Family learning
  • Out of school hours learning
  • Swift and easy referral to a range of specialist support services
  • Providing community access to ICT, sports, arts and Adult Learning activities.
