CHYPPS Update from Janet
We are also on the move again – back to Langport! We will be leaving Westonzoyland at the end of the month and will be taking an office at The Town Hall which is where ViSTA is based. Our new address is shown at the end of this news circular – we have not had our new telephone number confirmed yet.
Although we are leaving The Old School, we are very pleased to say that another local voluntary organisation (and CHYPPS member) is moving in – Ups and Downs South West. See below and attached details of their 2010 Conference.
We have also said “Goodbye” to Vivian Upton who stepped down as Chair of CHYPPS on 31st August. We are all very grateful for the unstinting support Vivian has given to us over the years and hope she enjoys her retirement from CHYPPS. We are, however, very pleased to welcome Pat Parker who is taking over as Chairman and look forward to working with him.

NAVCA survey on the Big Society
NAVCA have surveyed their members to gauge their understanding, expectations and reservations about the proposals around the Big Society. They found their members are generally positive about the Big Society principles and exhibit a genuine interest in contributing in practical ways. However, the fairly high proportion of ‘don't knows' may well reflect a lack of clarity in the proposals and NAVCA members' own uncertainty about the Government's intentions.
