More Than My Illness: Delivering quality care for young people with cancer is the second of two CLIC Sargent reports which examine the non-clinical needs of children and young people with cancer. This report focuses on young people aged 16-24 and their families, while the first in the series focused on the needs of children aged 0-18.

The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) has published the fourth edition of Youth Tracker, the quarterly newsletter looking at how Britain's young people are faring in the recession, and what organisations can do to support them. This edition of Youth Tracker focuses on what can be done to put young people having to decide on their next steps in life at the forefront of education and skills policy.

New therapy brings results for troubled young people
Re-offending in troubled and aggressive young people can be significantly cut using a pioneering new mental health approach known as Multisystemic Therapy, a UK conference was told this week. Reporting on the initial findings of the first UK evaluation pilot, researchers found in families with multiple problems that the use of Multisystemic Therapy reduced the risk of re-offending, particularly among boys.

Evidence of what works with young people
NCVYS members Fairbridge have published Back from the Brink: How Fairbridge transforms the lives of disadvantaged young people. The report brings together the results of three evaluative studies of Fairbridge's work over ten years and is based on a sample of 3200 individuals. It provides detailed evidence about what works for disadvantaged young people and demonstrates the empirical value of development work with young people.

Please note, that those holding current assessor qualifications, including the A and D units, will not need to undertake the new qualifications.
